GN ReSound
is a one of the world's largest manufacturers of hearing instruments
and audiological equipment and is a recognised technology leader.
The
intelliaid concept was in fact the result of another 'tagging'
application for GN's manufacturing process control. Around the
same time, Climarque were in discussion with technology partner Hitachi
High Technologies Corporation regarding the recently developed 'coil on chip' writable tag. The defining
factor with this chip was it's unique size - just 2.5 mm
square. With a basic understanding of GN ReSounds core
business and innovative approach we took the chip & read/write
module to them.

The response was extremely positive - whilst highly complex digital
hearing aids were available, no devices currently carried any
historical information.
The Hitachi coil on chip has a writable memory area, which GN
immediately recognised as a practical way of carrying such
data.
This on board memory offers the benefit of enhanced customer service by way
of client information, easily accessible service history for the laboratories
and the ability to incorporate into the factory production process.
GN
ReSound also commissioned Climarque to develop application software
specifically for this
project which gives huge flexibility of use and now forms the platform for national dispenser outlets - along with a reader
network.
Now progressing, the concept has been well received by key clients
and an ever increasing infrastructure is allowing many industry
users to maximise the benefits of intelliaid .
GN ReSound's Operations Director, Mr Peter Mellor comments,
"It is a visionary approach to business which sustains our
world class presence and we are confident that the
'intelliaid' project fits this mould."
