The main function of the system is to monitor and control equipment and people within an area or building by position. This is done with active tags that each transmit a unique ID at a factory pre-set time interval (normally 1.5 seconds). Multifunction readers are networked to provide area zone coverage and interpret signals transmitted by the tags.

The system can also monitor vibration shock & tamper of equipment. This function is implemented by using motion sensitive tags.

Any activation of these devices causes the tag to broadcast an alarm sequence, which is in turn transmitted through the reader network to TagTrac.

Depending on the system set up and configuration, the software initiates various alarms on receipt of the transmission. The alarms can be set to require a response from the operator. Various alarm response modes and activation of other hardware can also be initiated, for example, CCTV cameras activated or predetermined phone / email messages. 

Comprehensive and varied reports can be  produced from the audit trail of assets as they move around within the monitored areas.
